I’m struggling with the visualization exercise. What can I do?

What happens when you try to visualize yourself? Is the image in your mind unclear, or are you unable to see a smoke-free version yourself?

If you can’t see things clearly in your mind’s eye, focus on what you feel or hear or tell yourself when you imagine or daydream the happiest version of yourself as a non-smoker.

Tip: What will help is to take a piece of paper and write on it in detail how you’d like your life to be in the future, and instead of visualizing yourself as a nonsmoker, read that paper.

I can’t visualize myself as a happy non-smoker

The ultimate purpose of the visualization is to create an image of your smoke-free self that gives you joy. It’s like daydreaming or imagining yourself as a happy non-smoker.

If you can’t imagine yourself as a happy non-smoker, then just imagine the happiest, healthiest, most confident, and fulfilled version of yourself. Does this person smoke?
