If you’ve already quit smoking or feel ready to quit before Day 10, you don’t have to, and shouldn’t smoke again just for the sake of the ritual.
You can have a smoke-free ritual instead, and you can plan it using the prompts below:
Plan Your Smoke-free Ritual using the 6Ws – Non-smoker Edition:
When will I have my smoke-free ritual?
Where will I celebrate my freedom?
What will I say to myself?
With whom will I celebrate my new chapter?
What will I do before the ritual?
What will I do after the ritual?
Sample plan:
🕒 When: Saturday, June 22 at 4 PM, after watching Day 10 of the program.
📍 Where: By the lake near my house!
🗣️ What I will tell myself:
“Today I am celebrating my choice of freedom. I am a happy non-smoker and I’m ready to enjoy my life as my real, best self!”
🧍 With whom: With my sister.
🌱 Before the ritual: Warm shower, announce freedom to my friends, and prepare my things for the ritual.
🎉 After the ritual: Have a celebratory picnic, take photos, and a short walk by the lake.
💡 More smoke-free ritual ideas our members have shared:
- Goodbye, Ex!
Read your goodbye letter (written on Day 3) and throw away any remaining smoking paraphernalia to mark the end of this toxic relationship (cigarettes, lighters, ashtrays, vape pods, pens, etc.).
- Freedom Toast
Invite a friend, support buddy, or loved one to share a drink (tea, juice, or sparkling water) and make a toast to your new life. Light a candle at the beginning if you want a “lighting” ritual without lighting a cigarette. Blow the candle out at the end of the toast!
- Breathing Ceremony
Sit quietly and do 10 deep, slow breaths. You can place your hand over your heart and, after every breath, speak and affirm your non-smoker status with empowering phrases, like:
“With this breath, I choose peace.
With this breath, I choose health.
With this breath, I choose freedom.”
- Dance Party!
Create a playlist of empowering songs or music that remind you of freedom or make you feel joy. Play it during your ritual to celebrate your transformation. Dance away!
- Release & Burn
Write down everything you’re letting go of — the negative thoughts, feelings, destructive patterns, stress that smoking caused — and burn the paper.
❕Safety first:
Burn the paper in a fireproof container (like a metal can or ceramic bowl), outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Keep a cup of water or a fire extinguisher nearby just in case. Never leave the fire unattended. When finished, douse the ashes with water to ensure they’re fully out.
