Don’t worry if you don’t feel ready yet! There are a few reasons why you may not be feeling ready or you may be feeling fear or hesitation right before your quit date… This guide will show you how to get ready and stop smoking successfully.
To assess where you’re at, ask yourself:
- Have I reached and completed day 10 yet?
- Have I been recording every cigarette?
- Have I been using willpower to cut down while going through the program? If yes, click here to read this guide.
- Have I been too focused on how much I cut down instead of the lessons?
- Have I been doing one planned experiment a day?
- Are there still some situations or triggers that cause me uncertainty, stress, or fear?
- Have I been having an unhelpful mindset, such as focusing on what I haven’t achieved instead of what I have achieved in the program? If yes, click here to watch this program video.
If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, then that is the reason you’re not feeling ready yet. The good news is, that now you know what to do differently as you move forward.
“I’m close to my quit date and don’t feel ready”
If you’re on day 8 or 9 of the program and you feel fear or doubt about your upcoming quit date, ask yourself:
If you’re at an 8 and above, you can just move on with the program and your quit date. You’re ready!
If you’re at a 7 or below, we recommend delaying your quit date by a few days so you can prepare better for your smoke-free life!
What to do next:

During these days, please repeat any days of the program you feel unsure of (reviewing days 1, 5, 6, 8, and 9 will benefit you a lot) + keep doing your smoking notebook.
