How do I get back on track after a relapse?

Setbacks are part of the journey. A setback can be a great opportunity to learn and might even be a blessing in disguise that can help you prepare better and quit for good.

There are a few reasons that may have caused this.

  • Quit smoking before completing the program
  • Quit smoking before day 10 without feeling ready (for example, you may have chosen a quit date that’s significant to you instead of deciding your quit date based on how prepared you feel you are) Learn more on selecting or moving your quit date here.
  • Did not prepare for some high-risk situations or some triggers that still cause you fear
  • Forgot to select and use a replacement activity
  • Didn’t do experiments during the program
  • Forgot to create and use the day 10 coping plan

The only reason we’re listing what went wrong is to know what to do differently moving forward. Our goal is to learn from the past and focus on the future.

I created a special page to help you get back on track.

You can read this page and follow the steps before starting the program again or setting a new quit date.
